~Get to Know Tommy Reddicks~
Tommy specializes in educational connections. He is also well known for his creative use world themes and multimedia technology. Because of this, his educational approach is famous for its academic creativity, ethnic flair, and technological capability. In 2005, his classroom included a 1000-pound playable music sculpture that he commissioned from a world renowned metal artist in New Zealand. More recently, he has been consulting for the new Denver Art Museum by aiding in the musical/educational research, designs, recordings, and installations within the African Gallery (now open to the public). Tommy also frequents the museum as a guest performer and educator for larger public events.
Tommy has been recognized for his outstanding and innovative interdisciplinary approach to academics. His master units can be found on the website for the National Core Knowledge Foundation, and his writing is used as a model example for Core Knowledge teachers nationwide. Tommy presents his units and interdisciplinary methodology yearly to state and national audiences. He currently resides in Brighton, CO.
Tommy is the current president and one of the founding members of the Colorado Core Knowledge Arts Festival. This festival unites Core Knowledge students statewide in a culmination of the arts, including Art, Journalism, Band, Orchestra, and Choir.
Performing with Denver's Comedy Helper, Tommy saw his first comedy action on stage in Chicago at the 2004 Chicago Sketch Fest. As a theatrical director, he has produced Alice in Wonderland, The Mousetrap, his original musical production of The Jungle Book, Julius Caesar, Androcles and the Lion, and over twenty-five original musicals for children. In April of 2007, Tommy unveiled his original Navajo musical, "The Glittering World", which featured performances by R. Carlos Nakai and Jonathon Starr. In 2008, he premiered "Grow", an innovative environmental musical that featured a partnership with local recycling.
In film, Tommy has composed for Loosely Translated Productions in New York City. In 2006, he completed scoring the music for a DVD movie for Imago. His music has been heard on Entertainment Weekly's website underscoring photo shoot and "Must List" videos.Tommy has also worked closely with the Federal Heights SWAT team and Police force in creating educational and training videos. He has produced several movie shorts, including,"Bugle Boy", "Helmet Goes To Wyoming", "A Pinnacle Christmas Carol", "109 Steps to Affective Discipline", "The Groove Code", and "Appearance".
On Television, Tommy has appeared on Denver's NBC News following his 2005 commission of "Voyage of the Dream", on Denver's Morning Show on CBS in 2006 to perform his Denver Broncos song, "Another Chance For Glory", and on numerous local affiliates performing the National Anthem.
In the press, Tommy has been featured in many local papers including the "Longmont Daily Times Call" , Denver's "Westword", the "Westminster Window", and even in the "New Zealand Herald".
